In the center ellipse there are two shaking hands, connoting the unity of the provinces of Argentina .The hands come together to hold a pike, which represents power and willingness to defend freedom, epitomized by the Phrygian cap on the top of the spear.
The blue and white colors are symbols of the Argentine people and the same colors of the Argentine flag. The blue half of the ellipse symbolizes the sky and the white one denotes the Río de la Plata. Argentinas' flag was made by Manuel Belgrano and made on an unknown date during the Argentina War of Independence . It is light blue , yellow and white. Argentinas' flag wasn't aproved to be used as the countrys' flag but it was used as a war flag. On the first flag Manuel Belgrano made for Argentina, it did not have the sun as you see it now on the flag. That was changed in 1818 to the new flag you see to day.

Milanesa, a pounded piece of chicken or beef breaded and fried or baked,is popular for lunch. Empanadas is like a turnover stuffed with spinach, cheese, mushrooms, beef or chicken or sea food. Other popular foods in Argentina is pizza and pasta since a lot of people came to Argentina from Italy. Another Argentine food is Locro and it comes from the North West Andes. Argentina 's goverment is run by a President and the two houses of the Argentine National Congress. Elections take place regulary on a multi- party system. The rules are set out in the constitution.
